DearManning，—Ifeelmyselfunabletothankyousufficientlyforyourkindletter.Itwasdoublyacceptabletome，bothforthechoicepoetryandthekindhonestprosewhichitcontained.ItwasjustsuchaletterasIshouldhaveexpectedfromManning.

IaminmuchbetterspiritsthanwhenIwrotelast.Ihavehadaveryeligibleoffertolodgewithafriendintown.Hewillhaveroomstoletatmidsummer，bywhichtimeIhopemysisterwillbewellenoughtojoinme.Itisagreatobjecttometoliveintown，whereweshallbemuchmoreprivate，andtoquitahouseandneighbourhoodwherepoorMarysdisorder，sofrequentlyrecurring，hasmadeusasortofmarkedpeople.WecanbenowhereprivateexceptinthemidstofLondon.Weshallbeinafamilywherewevisitveryfrequently;onlymylandlordandIhavenotyetetoaconclusion.Hehasapartnertoconsult.Iamstillonthetremble，forIdonotknowwherewecouldgointolodgingsthatwouldnotbe，inmanyrespects，highlyexceptionable.OnlyGodsendMarywellagain，andIhopeallwillbewell!Theprospect，suchasitis，hasmademequitehappy.Ihavejusttimetotellyouofit，asIknowitwillgiveyoupleasure.—Farewell.
